Alternate Ending: Wes
As soon as Teresa pushed the button on the console, everything around Thomas seemed to come to a halt. The other Gladers held in their breaths and waited in the new found silence, anticipating what would happen. After several long moments, a long hissing sound echoed down the hallway. Everyone stared into the shadows, prepared for anything to happen. The Gladers slowly inched down the hallway until they discovered the source of the noise. A large door was raising from the wall, revealing another chamber within. Thomas felt the eyes of his companions on him. "Nowhere to go but forward." he said with a shrug, then lead the group within. All was dark as the Gladers entered the room, and they could not tell what lurked ahead. Suddenly
a bright light flashed on, blinding those who had adjusted to the gloomy light of the tunnel. When everyone was able to look, they saw several people standing before them. They wore lab coats and carried clipboards, and seemed to be giving them an approving look. "Greetings, children," the man nearest to them said. "We were very impressed with your results in our maze experiment. We didn't expect this many to survive." Thomas was speechless. These people, these monsters, had used him and his friends as lab rats. He could see feel the anger rising within the other survivors. "Why, after a short break, we think that you may be ready for the second test!"
Something in Thomas snapped after the man's comment, and he charged at the pack of scientists with his arms flailing. After him came the other boys, who swarmed behind him, eager for revenge. They dived into the fight, which lasted, unsurprisingly, not long at all. The Gladers finally had a chance to take out their anger and confusion on those who had caused their pain. After beating the Creators senseless, they set their minds to finding an exit. Once they escaped, they would bring these terrible people to justice and reveal what they had done to the rest of the world. Thomas stopped to think for a second, about the things Alby had said about the world. Was it going to be any better? But he shoved the thought away. He was finally going to go home.
